privacy policy

The short version: your voice never leaves your Mac. The AI only sees what you ask it to work on, when you ask. We don't sell your data, show ads or use analytics trackers.
what stays on your mac
These run on your Mac and are never sent to us:
- Listening for “hey swaey”, turning speech into text, and voice typing. Your voice recordings never leave your Mac.
- Your memories, dictionary, routines, clipboard history, notch shelf, activity log and stats.
- The free tries counter.
Settings → Privacy in the app lists every time something was sent off your Mac, what it was and where it went.
what leaves your mac, and when
- Your account (if you sign in or buy a plan): your email address, your plan, and usage totals (how many requests and what they cost us each day). Not the content of what you asked.
- AI requests (Pro and Max): when you ask Swaey something that needs the AI, the text of your request and the context needed to answer it go through our server to our AI provider, Anthropic or OpenAI, which runs the model. That context can include text you've selected, files, emails or calendar events you ask about, results of actions, and, if the request needs to see your screen, a screenshot (you can turn screen access off in Settings → Privacy). Our server passes these through without storing them. Both process them under their commercial API terms, which don't allow using them to train their models.
- The natural voice (Pro and Max, if you choose it): the text of Swaey's reply goes to ElevenLabs to be spoken.
- Weather: when you ask for it, the place (or an approximate location) goes to wttr.in.
- Payments: Paddle runs checkout, invoices and tax. We receive your email, country, plan and payment status, never your card details.
- Updates: the app checks heyswaey.com for new versions, sending its version and your macOS version.
- First launch: the app downloads its speech and voice models from public model hosts. Nothing about you is sent.
- Feedback: only if you choose Send Feedback, the app drafts an email with a recent log attached that you can read and remove before sending.
this website
heyswaey.com has no analytics, no ad trackers and sets no cookies of its own. It loads its fonts from Google Fonts, so Google sees your IP address. When you start a checkout, Paddle's checkout loads and Paddle's own privacy policy applies to it.
who processes data for us
- Cloudflare: our server, database and website hosting.
- Anthropic and OpenAI: the AI (Pro and Max).
- ElevenLabs: the natural voice (Pro and Max).
- Paddle: payments, as Merchant of Record.
- Resend: sign-in emails.
how long we keep it
We keep your account details and usage totals while you have an account. Email us to delete your account and we'll erase your data within 30 days, except records Paddle and tax law require to be kept (such as invoices).
your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, or to delete it: email hello@heyswaey.com. If you're in the EU, UK or California, you also have the rights your local law gives you, including complaining to your data protection authority. We use your data only to provide HeySwaey, take payment and prevent abuse.
children
HeySwaey isn't meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data.
changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we'll tell you by email or in the app before it applies.
